Chen Yujun, born in 1976 in Putian, Fujian, graduated from the Comprehensive Art Department of China Academy of Art in 1999 and remained at the school to teach in the Comprehensive Art Department and the Oil Painting Department until 2014. He currently works and lives in Shanghai.
As a representative artist born in the late 1970s, Chen Yujun experienced and witnessed significant changes in Chinese society from a young age. His reflections and explorations of the relationship between individual life genes and natural and cultural environments have increasingly become the driving force and theme of his creations. From the Mulun River in his hometown to the mother river that nurtures Asian and world civilizations, his vision and brush seem to follow in the footsteps of overseas Chinese who left their homes, questioning the path to self-redemption and the direction of human nomadism towards a more profound world. Due to the complexity of his mixed-media works and deep cultural sentiments, Chen Yujun is gaining attention from curators and collectors worldwide. His works are exhibited in museums, foundations, and galleries around the globe and are widely collected.
